Inauguration of 3-day long 17th Diabetes & Endocrine Conference by Bangladesh

Inauguration of 3-day long 17th Diabetes & Endocrine Conference by Bangladesh Endocrine Society in cooperation with Diabetic Association of Bangladesh was held today at the BIHS campus, 125/1 Darussalam, Mirpur, Dhaka on December 13, 2011.

As Chief Guest, Prof Dr. AFM Ruhul Huq MP, Honorable Minister for Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the seminar. In his speech he expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing mission of Diabetes and Endocrine Scoiety and called upon to further initiate research facilities, specially, in the molecular biology sector saying that, this government is ready to provide every sort of cooperation regarding this noble venture.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Endocrine Society Prof. Liaquat Ali made the welcome speech and said that, we will need to introduce the diabetes and endocrine faculty in every public and private medical college of the country.

Chairman of the session Prof. AK Azad Khan said that, our resource is too paltry to meet the demands of the scenario. It is better if we could incorporate the community clinics with the program.

Before that, Prof Dr. Akhtar Hussain from the University of Oslo made his delivery at the 16th Ibrahim Memorial Oration titled `Increasing Burden of Diabetes: the Way Forward’ during the conference.

Invited speakers from Australia, Norway, USA, Pakistan, Nepal and India also gave lectures on various topics pertinent to the main theme of the conference.

In addition, more than a thousand health workers and medical professionals from different neighboring countries of Bangladesh participated in the conference.

This conference is being arranged for the last 17 years with a view to introduce and exchange the advancements and innovations of new technology about diabetes and endocrine.
